The Midland Star

The Midland Star of the Ingram Barge Company pushing fifteen tows of coal up the Cumberland a couple of Sunday's ago. Sam and I watched the Captain lock up-river through the Cheatham Lock. Nope, it don't take much to amuse us! We never did decide where in hell he might be taking that much coal in this day and age, Sam's only guess was the Gallatin Steam Plant........

Umm. Speaking of steamy, have you heard the one about the Tennessee State Trooper and the Porn Star?........Jeez! Talk about letting the little head do the thinking for the big head!

I was told that 62% of the electric power in the U.S. comes from coal.

I grew up boating on the OHIO river and worked the summer I turned 18 on the Donna B. a tugboat pushing and pulling 1500 tons of coal. I have done some things in my life that scared the shit out me, but there is nothing as scary as locking through on a coal barge. My father regulary scared the shit out of us in the locks on our 36' Christ Craft. But you had to know my Dad to understand that.
Speaking of steamy I googled Barbie Cummings and her website is called blacks on blondes, not that there is anything wrong with that......

Yeah, yeah......didn't your Mom try and tie off to the ladder or some shit?

Me and Sam were talking about the first time we locked through the dam at Old Hickory in Sam's twenty-six foot Owens cruiser. The drop was something like eighty feet. I was ten, maybe eleven, and I can remember thinking while the lock-master closed the gates behind us that JEEZZUSSS, the whole fucking lake is behind that steel door as we dropped 80 feet.
