Martin's BBQ Joint
This is Martin's BBQ Joint located in Nolensville, Tennessee. Pat Martin is the resident senior pit-master.
According to the menu they smoke their meat at a fairly low temp for twenty-two hours. The smoky taste on the meat was deep, and the pulled pork had enough good smoky flavor that it was able to stand alone without a sauce. Good pork. There are a couple of sauces available, a vinegar based, which Sam and I passed on, and a red sauce that is semi-sweet, with a good but not over-powering flavor.
No cornbread to report on, as when you order a Pork Plate you get a piece of white bread. Disappointing, although I'm sure it's a profit to loss decision to sell the cornbread seperately. We'll check out the cornvread next time.
The potato salad is worth noting, as it is made with redskins and was quite tasty.
Skatetruck will return to Martin's, as the food is good, it's a fun place, and the folks seem to give a damn about their BBQ. The parking lot is gravel, too!
