Quote of the Weekend

This is definitely not G-Rated. Please stop now if you are easily made queasy by red-neck male banter.....

Fearless Charlie: Damn, I hate being the first guy to use the porta-pottie. You drop a big one and then it splashes that blue stuff all over your ass.

Pap: So, what you're saying is that now your ass looks like it's been sodomised by Poppa Smurf?

Made coffee come out my nose.....

Skatetruck on the Road.....

The Captain getting in a little practice a couple of weeks ago, preparing for ITSA's Round 2 at Palymyra this Sunday. We've got a doozy of a trial laid out and would enjoy anyone coming and checking it out. For directions and the event flyer go HERE

Here's hoping all of you have as good a week-end as us squirrels are going to.....

The B Line......

Sounds like an inner-city mass transit line huh? Get on the bus....

Nope, it's the living hell that I stepped myself up to in the vintage trials world after the 2006 season.

In '06 I was lucky enough to win eleven events, and never finish off of the podium. I won the ITSA national championship on the C line, finished second in the AHRMA national championship (If I'd ridden one more AHRMA event, we'd have won that title too) and won the Mid-West regional title.

Well, times have changed! In '07 I was lucky to finish as high as sixth, and as low as last in my class, fourteenth or so. And I'm not talking about coming in last by maybe a couple of points, I mean LAST by a wide margin!

In 2007 I mostly concentrated on the ITSA series, it's undoubtedly the premier vintage trials series in the nation right now, and destined to only get better. I was damned happy to finish third overall after a tentative start to the season.....and the only reason I finished third was because I rode a couple more events than some other cats.....

Roll on to '08!

Thanks to Julie S. for the pic of me picking up my damn bike.....

Final Tally.....

The final tally was 3 to 26 to 10 to 1.

3 being the number of hours fished.

26 being the number of largemouth bass caught and released, the largest probably being the one pictured. Ain't nothing like a good farm pond.

10 being the number of fish that I had on the hook but lost, and never got to put the big pucker on.....

1 being the number of bluegill that I caught. This bluegill was significant in that he was all of seven inches long, but he hit a Rapala jointed J-9, a lure nearly his size. What balls.

A Reader's Digest Moment

I'm happy to say that this is my buddy R.Q. on his 2008 KTM 200EXC hare-scrambles bike. He's only eighty-two years young. Yep, you read that right, eighty-two years. I'd be way more than happy to hope that this would be me in ten years, much less THIRTY years!

You know that Reader's Digest thing, Your Most Unforgettetable Character? In my book, he's a qualifier.....

The Scottish

The Guru exiting the Scottish Ditch at the Ranch.

For the uninitiate, the Scottish is an uphill small creekbed, probably fifty yards worth, strewn with medicine sized boulders and off camber turns. In the dry with good traction it can be intimidating at best. In the snow you have no idea where the damn rocks are.

He cleaned it.....

More Snow Play Day

Snow Play Day

For most folks having a snow play day entails a snowball fight, making some snow-cream, or maybe the building of a snowman or snow fort.

Not out at The Ranch. Well, we did in fact throw some snow. And I did eat some a couple of times.....

Happy Daylight Saving Time!

Misc Ramblings.....

Some Misc. Ramblings for a Monday......

For any of you old farts that are fans of vintage video arcade games we have this link HERE . Jeez, I am such a Tetris head! Thanks to TLC for the link.

In case you haven't been keeping up, Daylight Saving Time starts March 9. Hallelujah! and pass the popcorn. The end of cabin-fever. Let's ride!

For your viewing entertainment we offer THIS You-Tube video of the infamous Rick Mott riding his Hodaka in one of the trials sections at the Mid-Ohio National in 2006, a section that I can proudly say that I was in part responsible for. It took a couple of points off of Rick. For a major laugh turn your voulume up quite high so as to hear his friends and family members provide the commentary. Truly classic.....
